Abstract
In modern conditions of global instability, the maintenance of balanced growth of strategically important raw material regions of the Russian Federation faces a complex of destructive factors. The scientific problem lies in the growing contradictions between the large-scale industrial development of the northern territories and the preservation of a high level of socio-economic risks, which directly threatens the stability of government systems. The purpose of the study was to assess the role of sustainable economic development in strengthening Russia’s national security by analyzing the compliance of current macroeconomic indicators with their thresholds using the example of a subject such as the Sakha Republic (Yakutia). The materials and research methods used were official data from the Federal State Statistics Service, regulatory legal acts, as well as systematic and comparative approaches, methods of economic and statistical analysis and indicator modeling. In the course of the work, the interrelation of macro indicators was studied in detail, including the gross domestic product of the country and the gross regional product of the studied subject. The results of the study showed that destructive trends are observed in the region, where such acute social problems as unemployment and poverty in rural areas place key indicators in a critical risk zone, significantly exceeding established thresholds. It was established that the scale of the shadow economy creates real threats to economic security, limiting the budgetary possibilities of the state. It was proved that the current regional economic policy requires adjustments towards economic diversification and ensuring the economic security of the country and the region. The practical significance of the work lies in the possibility of applying the recommendations developed by the authorities to modernize strategic planning mechanisms. Due to the sustainable economic development based on macroeconomic indicators, the development of new ways to strengthen the economic security of the country and the region is one of the priorities of the modern economy.
