Peer-Review
All scholarly manuscripts submitted to the Editorial Office of “Economics. Sociology. Culturology” Series undergo single (double) anonymous ("blind") peer reviewing (authors of manuscripts do not know reviewers and receive a letter with comments signed by the Editor-in-Chief).
- Members of the Editorial Office and leading Russian and international experts in the corresponding area, invited as independent readers, perform peer reviews. The Editor-in-Chief, the Deputy Editor-in-Chief or the Commissioning Editor choose readers for peer review. We aim to limit the review process to 2-4 weeks, though in some cases the schedule may be adjusted at the reviewer’s request.
- Each article is sent to one reviewer.
- The reviewer has an option to abnegate the assessment should any conflict of interests arise that may affect perception or interpretation of the manuscript. Upon the scrutiny, the reviewer is expected to present the editorial board with one of the following recommendations:
- to accept the paper in its present state;
- to invited the author to revise their manuscript to address specific concerns before final decision is reached;
- that final decision be reached following further reviewing by another specialist;
- to reject the manuscript outright. - If the reviewer has recommended any refinements, the editorial office would suggest the author either to implement the corrections, or to dispute them reasonably (partly or in full). Authors are kindly required to limit their revision to 2 months since receiving an e-mail message on the necessity to do refinements. A refined article is sent for a peer review again.
- We politely request that the editor to be notified verbally or in writing should the author decide to refuse from publishing the manuscript. In case the author fails to do so within 3 months since receiving a copy of the initial review, the editorial board takes the manuscript off the register and notifies the author accordingly.
- If the author and reviewers meet insoluble contradictions regarding revision of the manuscript, the Editor-in-Chief resolves the conflict by his own authority.
- The Editorial Office reaches final decision to reject a manuscript on the hearing according to reviewers’ recommendations. The Board does not accept previously rejected manuscripts for re-evaluation. The author is duly notified of their decision via e-mail.
- Upon the decision to accept the manuscript for publishing, the Editorial Office notifies the authors of the scheduled date of publication.
- Kindly note that positive review does not guarantee the acceptance, as final decision in all cases lies with the editorial board. By his authority, the Editor-in-Chief rules final solution of every conflict.
Original reviews of submitted manuscripts remain deposited for 5 years.

Reviews of articles are kept in the Editorial Office for at least five years. Reviews can be submitted to authors upon request (without specifying the name of the reviewer). Copies of negative reviews are sent to the authors.
Editors have the exclusive right to accept or reject a manuscript for publication. Incoming manuscripts must be peer-reviewed, but the manuscript may be rejected at the stage prior to review if there is a good reason for this (for example, in cases where the subject of the article does not correspond to the subject of the journal, the article is obviously of low scholarly quality, the article was previously published in another edition, etc.). Editors accept an article for publication in accordance with their conviction that it meets the requirements of the journal.
Editors must guarantee the high quality of the materials published in the journal and their content integrity, as well as publish corrections, explanations, apologies in cases where such a need arises.
Editors should not have a conflict of interest with the authors of those articles that they reject or accept for publication.
